DEP Secretary Recommends Measures to Save Electricity Consumers $500 Million By 2013
HARRISBURG — Acting Department of Environmental Protection Secretary John Hanger offered the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission suggestions today to ensure that consumers can realize the greatest amount of savings—up to $500 million by 2013 and $800 million annually thereafter—from the state’s new energy efficiency and conservation law. He also said that with electricity rates for a majority of Pennsylvanians set to spike as much as 60 percent in the near future, it is important that the commission act quickly to implement guidelines so programs have time to take effect and benefit ratepayers.

Fall Play - Much Ado About Nothing - This Weekend
QUARRYVILLE -- The William Shakespeare romantic comedy Much Ado About Nothing is coming to the stage at Solanco High School this fall. The student performances will be Friday, November 21, and Saturday, November 22; the curtain rises both evenings at 7 p.m. Much Ado About Nothing has been adopted for the high school stage by Solanco High School English teacher Jennifer Pasko, who says the play will feature plenty of laughter, sorrow and dramatic moments, yet in true Shakespeare fashion, everything works out for the best.

Woman Bails Out Husband After Assault
EDEN TOWNSHIP -- A Quarryville woman posted bail for her husband after he assaulted her. Tpr. Timothy Repp was called to 98 Loop Road Friday at 11:30 a.m. for a report of a domestic with simple assault. Ronald Richard Storms, 38, grabbed his wife, Patricia Ann Storms, 36, by the throat and threatened her. He was arrested and charged accordingly. She later posted his bail, according to Tpr. Repp.

Driver Charged in Two Separate Accidents
COLERAIN TOWNSHIP -- Jeremy Hall, 29 of Parkesburg, faces charges for Driving too Fast and Careless Driving in two separate accidents. The accidents occurred within a half-hour of each other on Wednesday, November 12.

Cutler's Office to Serve as the Local Toys for Tots Dropoff Site
Toys for Tots FoundationQUARRYVILLE -- Rep. Bryan Cutler (R-100) announced that his office will serve as a drop-off site for those wishing to donate toys to Toys for Tots. Cutler's office will be accepting new, unwrapped toys from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday until Monday, Dec. 22. Toys for Tots is administered by the United States Marine Corps Reserves with a mission of providing needy children with a new toy at Christmas to "motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders." 

SECA to Hold Annual Holiday Event and Craft Fair
QUARRYVILLE -- For the sixth year, SECA is hosting its annual Holiday Event and Craft Fair! Over 20 local vendors will be selling holiday crafts and baked goods. The event is one day only - Saturday November 29, from 9 am to 3 pm at the SECA Center, Memorial Park, Quarryville. Vendor spaces are still available. Interested in being a craft vendor? Governor Rendell is expected to make major economic announcement today (Thursday) in the Governor’s Reception Room.

Governor Rendell Wednesday revised his July 8 executive order extending the operations of the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council (PHC4). Under the revised order, the council will remain in operation through June 30, 2009, or until the General Assembly reauthorizes the council, whichever occurs first.

Bryant was convicted on all corruption charges against him for unlawfully using his power and influence to obtain a paid, low-show job at UMDNJ’s School of Osteopathic Medicine in exchange for lobbying and bringing millions of dollars in extra funding to the school, and using that job and others to fraudulently nearly triple his state pension.
