QUARRYVILLE -- Solanco High School health and wellness teacher Michele Jordan has been selected for a prestigious award from the Pennsylvania State Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (PSAHPERD). Jordan will officially receive the Teacher of the Year Award, secondary school division, at the PSAHPERD convention in Pittsburgh November 20-23. Jordan has been a teacher at Solanco for 22 years and she is the first Solanco teacher to win this award. She was nominated for the award by Solanco lead health and wellness teacher Dawn Kreider. In her nomination letter, Kreider wrote that Jordan is a leader in the department, has implemented new and innovative teaching strategies, and that she is passionate about teaching. "She has very high standards for student behavior and social interactions. Her students learn very quickly that they must support each other."
