Cutler's Commentary: Fish & Boat Commission Offers Grants
By Bryan Cutler, State Representative, 100th Legislative District HARRISBURG -- The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) is offering grants of up to $5,000 through its Sport fishing and Aquatic Resource Education Grant Program to promote sports, fishing, boating and aquatic activities among Pennsylvania’s youth, and to help people feel more connected to the environment.
In 2007, the PFBC awarded 18 grants worth approximately $67,000. For 2008, 10 groups successfully met the criteria for the grant and received nearly $50,000 for their respective programs.
The deadline to apply for the 2009 program is Jan. 31. Successful applicants will be notified by April 15, and funding will be awarded four to eight weeks after all agreements are finalized. For a complete set of program rules, eligibility information and applications visit my Web site at RepCutler.com and click on “Sportfishing and Aquatic Education Grants.” On a separate note, many of you may be aware that my district office in Quarryville served as a Toys for Tots drop-off site. The generosity of the people in our community was astounding, and we were able to gather many toys for under privileged children to enjoy this Christmas. Thank you for everyone who donated toys for this effort or who reached out in some other way during this season of giving. Editor's Note: Cutler's Commentary is a monthly column, written by Rep.
